Self-care Tips from Other Moms/Dads
  • take long walks
  • do a lot of meditation
  • have a really strong suppport system with longterm friends and/or church friends
  • involve yourself with a lot of music to bring that positive energy to yourself
  • sing in the church choir
  • use the food banks
  • really watch for deals at supermarket (big bags of ripe fruit) if you're short of money
  • network with a lot of women
  • use massage therapy and physiotherapy and as many resources as you possibly can
  • take long baths with epsom salts and essential oils when you're feeling stressed
  • do a lot of reading and use the library e-mail
  • look for deals on clothing
  • make your home as comfortable and homey as you can
  • bring as much love as you can to your child
  • communicate with your children as much as you can, to share the reality of the issue
  • create open-minded environments for your children to see different perspectives
  • if you follow a spiritual tradition, ask for help from a Higher Power through prayer
