Some cultures believe that the God's love is the only love that is higher than a mother's love. And in those cultures, the position of a mother is highly respected and revered. And why not? For it is through our mothers that we all are birthed into this existence. Can we ever repay back this precious gift of our life?

In our modern Western society, our mother's value is often not acknowledged nor is gratitude a widely practiced virtue. This creates many disharmonies throughout our society.

The Single Mothers Support Network believes that the job of a mother or a father raising a child, is perhaps the most important job in our society. And that the well-being of the mother/father is crucial not only to the well-being of the children, but also to the family, to the community, and to society. In this sense, mothers/fathers can be seen as the roots of our society.

Therefore, by supporting mothers/fathers, the benefit ripples out to all levels of society. While all parents are worthy of support, at this time, our organization is offering services only to low-income single mothers and single fathers. Single mothers, in particular face overwhelming conditions from wide-spread poverty, lack of support, marginalization, and negative stereotyping. Single fathers also may face equally challenging conditions and are also eligible to be members. Perhaps with further funding, we will be able to offer our services to more parents.
